This February, your friends at Graphic Content bring you something a little bit different from our normal comic-book fare. Reaching the screen in 1999, Mystery Men is a cult classic film based on stories from the cult classic comic series, Flaming Carrot Comics. The movie depicts the lives of ordinary, working class men and women who suit up and fight crime without the benefit of rich parents, alien powers or magic rings.
To celebrate this glimpse at the unseen world of caped crusaders, we’ve embarked on a titanic team-up of our own, as Devin Bruce of the podcast Scotch and Comics joins the fray this time out! You’ll remember Devin from last year’s pairing of Point Blank with the Balvenie Doublewood scotch.
Check out the awesome poster for the screening, courtesy of designer Clark Park!
When insane super-genius Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) is released from the asylum, Champion City turns as usual to Captain Amazing to stem the growing tide of criminality. There’s one problem, though: the bored Captain is actually behind Frankenstein’s release, and he has now been taken captive! It’s up to a new group of uniquely talented individuals to save the day, as Mr. Furious (Ben Stiller), the Blue Raja (Hank Azaria) and the Shoveler (William H. Macy) join forces with other like-minded misfits to defeat Frankenstein and his “Psycho-frakulator” doomsday device.
