Well, it had to happen; this month holds the final Graphic Content events of our first season. We’ll be back in September to keep putting awesome comic book movies on the big screen, but don’t fret. We’ve got not one but two gigantic, green, butt-kicking screenings left for you: 1990′s fan-favorite TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES! Alongside the boys over at the Jay n’ J movie podcast, we’re calling on all of our own latent Turtle Power for this one! Check out our awesome poster, designed by Parker Thiessen, which comes in 5 awesome variants! They’re totally radical!
Since this movie was too tubular to be contained in one screening, we’re having a special matinee screening on Sunday the 24th as well, so make sure to bring the little mutants along to that one as well! Just in case you’ve been living in a sewer of your own, here’s the synopsis.
After an accident involving a canister of toxic waste, four ordinary turtles from the pet store are transformed into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Leonardo is the leader, Raphael is the rebel, Michelangelo is the party dude, and Donatello does machines! Splinter (Kevin Clash, of Being Elmo fame), a similarly-evolved rat, teaches them ninjutsu in an attempt to fend off a crime wave perpetrated by his old master, the evil Shredder, and his Foot Clan. Human allies April O’Neil and Casey Jones tag along for the wild and unconventional ride. Based on the highly successful independent comic by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, TMNT is a touchstone for the 90s generation. The film boasts excellent design and puppeteering work from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, in addition to the wisecracking antics we’ve come to love. Come out and party with Graphic Content, Jay n’ J. and the Turtles, for the last film in our first season and the 1st anniversary of Edmonton’s Entertainment Podcast. Cowabunga, dude!
As a special treat, Domino’s Pizza on 109th is going to serve New York style pizza in the lobby starting a half an hour before showtime. It’s $3 a slice, so bring a ninja-sized appetite!
Tuesday, June 19th at 7:00 PM and runs for 93 minutes. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors. Metro Passes will be accepted. Box office opens at 6:15, so come on by early to check out the comics we’ve selected to go with the movie. RSVP on Facebook.
A special matinee showing will be on Sunday, June 24th at 12:30 PM, for the kids. It’s going to be awesome.
